AN OVERVIEW OF THE ENGLISH QABALLA

The Book of the Law and the English Qaballa present to the discriminating student a complete system by which one may live one’s life in harmony with the universe. It is a system which incorporates amongst others the traditional symbolism of astrology by recognising the Qaballistic values of the English names of the planets and signs, and their attributes. It also makes use of the Hebrew Tree of Life, expanding the symbol to include a map of heaven as well as of earth. The vocabulary of Liber L is a prerequisite. The other “Class A” material is also of great significance but must be used sensibly; the linguistic style is clearly from the same source as Liber L but is more or less obfuscated by the intrusion of the scribe’s own consciousness, resulting in a close approximation at best. The language of Liber LXV, “The Book of the Heart Girt by a Serpent” for instance is so far removed from that of Liber L that it cannot be regarded as a Class A text.  Other English words are of passing interest only, as are other numerological rearrangements of the English Alphabet. The English Qaballa has nothing to do with Crowleyanity.

To invoke the planetary spirits the names and symbols of the relevant Sephirah are used, because they work. Words and phrases from Liber L of the appropriate values are also used, in a more contemplative fashion, to affect the unconscious mind of the ritualist. For example, the spiritual beauty of VENUS and NEPTUNE (=216) can be invoked with repetition of the phrase “EYES OF JESUS” (=216).

Working with the English Qaballa leads to a restructuring of the mind into a matrix of correspondences ranging unequivocally from the creation of the universe to the dynamics of human relationships. Typically the work begins with an interest in a particular word or number and the correspondences within the text of Liber L. It can be very entertaining, adding up the values of words and phrases; but after analysis must come synthesis, to achieve understanding and assimilation of the unique associations of words and numbers. As qaballistic insights become more personal it is vital to maintain silence in order to preserve the integrity of  the revelation.

Every aspect of life on earth or in heaven is accessible by the English Qaballa; all is brought into harmony by it as the language of everyday thought is transformed into the magical qaballistic language of the Aeon.
